Have you ever been so sad that it feels like your heart has been ripped out? Depression is a long-time burden that many people live with daily, and there are also times when a specific event can cause a short-lived burst of the blues.
As the author of this psalm points out, part of the solution to sadness is taking the focus off of yourself and pointing your eyes upward.
“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!”
Psalms 42:11 NLT
