When God Shoots You To Voicemail
"And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." - 1 John 5:15
Is there something you’ve been asking God for? Maybe you’ve been asking for physical healing for yourself, a friend, or a loved one. Maybe it’s for financial help, that perfect romantic partner, or to get that job or promotion. Maybe it’s just for guidance or a sign.
You ask and ask and ask, but it seems like it’s crickets from God’s end. What happened to “knock and the door will be opened to you?” - Matthew 7:7
You desperately need some relief and know God can provide it, but where is He? You’re calling, but it’s like God is shooting you straight to voicemail. You begin to wonder if He’s even there or if He’s even listening.
When I was going through some serious financial hardship- bills were piling up that I couldn’t pay; the bank was threatening to foreclose on my home. There were times when I had a dollar barely to my name. The fear and pressure, debtors calling, the IRS placing liens… I needed God’s help like yesterday.
I spent years begging God to answer my prayers, but He didn’t.
…At least not on my time. And when He eventually did, it was like the heavens opened up for me. Because of my faith, God poured His abundance into my life in ways I could have never imagined. It was worth the wait.
One of my favorite quotes is, “God's delays are not necessarily God's denials.” - Victor Hamilton.
Some of us endure what seems like an eternity of pain and suffering and God’s delays. It’s super frustrating, especially when we know what He’s capable of.
However, because we know exactly what He’s capable of, we must wait in faith. He hears you. He may not answer or provide immediately. God doesn’t feel your sense of urgency. He doesn’t work according to your deadlines. I promise that He will bring you to victory in due season. He will exalt you.
"Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." -Jeremiah 29: 12-13
Is there something for which you’ve been asking God, and it’s crickets? How can you faithfully lean in, knowing He is always working on your behalf, just maybe not on your time?
