“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
Galatians 5:16 NLT
There are so many people these days who want someone else to guide their lives. I have several acquaintances who are now professional “life coaches” and I always wondered what that meant. A quick web search showed me that: “A life coach is a type of wellness professional who helps people make progress in their lives in order to attain greater fulfillment. Life coaches aid their clients in improving their relationships, careers, and day-to-day lives.”
The same source also says that “Many people seek out life coaches for guidance in navigating a significant life change, such as taking on a new career. In plenty of cases, however, people turn to life coaches simply for help in building a happier, more meaningful life.”
If any of my life coach friends read this devotional on Heaven On Wheels, I hope you’re not offended, but the verse I’ve chosen for today speaks volumes.
The Holy Spirit checks all the boxes as a life coach! Reading and studying the Bible daily over the years has impressed on me that this one book has all the answers. Want to navigate a significant life change, like getting married, experiencing a loved one’s death, or changing careers? Ask God for guidance and you’ll get it!
When I pray for guidance these days, I feel the Holy Spirit pointing me in one direction or another. Sometimes His direction is to simply have me wait a while, other times it is to take action now — even in a direction that doesn’t seem like the best alternative.
By “not doing what my sinful nature craves”, I’m living a happier, more meaningful life. My life coach has existed since the beginning, wrote a best-selling book that I read constantly to inspire and instruct me, and helps me to be a better person. He has forgiven me for my past transgressions and has given me an eternal future. Best of all? He charges nothing but my love and belief.
