So many of Isaiah’s prophecies are powerful and poetic. The beginning of Isaiah 55 is a series of invitations; to receive blessing, to be richly fed, to be wonderfully led, and to be forgiven. Toward the end of the chapter, Isaiah describes “the glorious ways of the Lord”, with a reminder of the difference and distance between God and man, the glorious operation of the the word of God, and the joy and blessing of restoration.
You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!”
Isaiah 55:12 NLT
Isn’t that an upbeat, happy image? For those of us who love to spend time in God’s creation, it’s not a far stretch to think of the mountains and hills singing His praises with the trees adding their applause!
