Galatians is another of Paul’s letters to a group of early Christians. In this epistle, he was battling the Jewish legalists who had their own ideas of what “the law” was.
A simple sentence set them straight:
“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 NLT
Translation: Find a brother or sister in Christ with a burden they’re carrying, and help them with it. We all carry burdens, some physical, many emotional, and we’re not meant to bear those alone. Sharing another’s burden fulfills Christ’s commandment as recited in John’s gospel:
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another
John 13:34-35
Here’s your assignment for the next few days: find someone — friend, relative, co-worker, or complete stranger — who is struggling with something, and help them! There are millions of ways to help someone each and every day!
You’ll feel better for having helped that person, they’ll be grateful that you provided assistance, and most assuredly God will be happy with what you’ve done.
I love this!
