Hey Barb, I can’t remember if I mentioned when you did the Philippians one, but I agree with you. I do think it is good to remind others that David is human and makes mistakes but if I was going to call out a trait of his, I wouldn’t call him a whiner either.
I’m not sure I would call him a whiner, either, but he did back himself into a corner several times during his life, like the circumstances surrounding this Psalm. And this verse is very “poor me” in its tone. It was a commentary I found when I did the section on Philippians on grumbling and complaining. It called out five types from Biblical examples. Moses pulled the martyr act, Solomon was the cynic, the nagging wife in Proverbs is the perfectionist, and some are crusaders.
Agreed! yeah all of us have bad traits. I whine at times, and so does almost everyone else. To whine in a circumstance happens and you come to the Lord in prayer. There is a difference between that and someone who is a habitual whiner about everything.
