”Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.“
Psalms 25:3 NASB1995
Before I segue into today’s devotional, I want to thank all of our readers. Friday, December 29, marked the 700th consecutive daily devotional from Heaven on Wheels. Barb and I love researching and writing these posts for you, as we’re gaining deeper insight into the Bible and strengthening our faith each and every day.
Happy New Year from Heaven on Wheels! Thinking back on 2023 reminds us of what can happen in a single year. Some changes in our lives are good, some are painful to think about. Who knows what will happen in 2024?
As believers, we have great assurance in certain truths: God in Jesus is the source of our hope, and He is the Savior who has already come and who now reigns in heaven until He comes again “to judge the living and the dead” (1 Peter 4:5).
In Revelation 1:13, Jesus is described by John as “clothed in a robe reaching to the feet”; what we’d probably describe as a long, flowing robe like those worn by royalty. Robes like this were a sign of victory, security, and the completion of a great work. If you were in danger or in the middle of performing work, you wouldn’t wear a long robe as it would encumber free movement and probably cause you to fall.
Christ stands in His flowing robe as His work of redemption is accomplished. His kingdom is established, those who believe in Him have security forever. Our joyful declaration to the world on the first day of this New Year should be that “I am forever comforted by the truth that I belong to my Savior, Jesus Christ!” We will never be ashamed of waiting for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven.
Amen!
Heaven On Wheels Daily Prayer:
Lord, this world is full of uncertainty, but we have comfort, peace, and hope because we belong to You. We thank You for being our eternal security, and for allowing us to share in Your victory over sin. AMEN.
