The Old Testament (8th century BC) prophet Isaiah must have shocked the religious leaders and kings of his time when he began telling them of his visions from God. The Lord was tired of the “worship” of the people of Judah (sacrifices and ceremony, celebrations and fasting) since they were still sinning.
Isaiah told them what God wanted:
“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.”
Isaiah 1:17
28 centuries later, those are still words to live by. Obey God, and your life will be blessed.
