I Will Help You
Isaiah 41:13 A reminder from the prophet Isaiah that God has a grasp on your right hand, providing His constant support to overcome your fears
“For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’”
Isaiah 41:13 NASB1995
Isaiah has been called the “Shakespeare of the prophets”, writing 66 chapters in what has been described as a mini-Bible. The first 39 chapters — like the first 39 books of the Bible, the Old Testament — predominantly talk of God’s judgement against the idolatry and immorality of man. The final 27 chapters — like the 27 books of the New Testament — are a message of hope in the coming of The Messiah as man’s Savior (to bear a cross) and Sovereign (to wear a crown).
Early in that message of hope we find today’s chapter, in which God (through the prophet) is encouraging Israel. As in the days when Isaiah was writing down the prophecies given to him by God (740 to 686 BC), people in our current time find a lot of things to be fearful of. It’s apparently the job of governments and the media to keep people in a constant state of fear so they’re more easily controlled…
This verse would be a good one to commit to memory, as it can offer a remedy to the all-pervasive fear of the 2020s. Just before this verse in Isaiah 41:10, God says:
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NASB1995
God’s right hand was holding up the people. In Isaiah 41:13, He is holding our right hand, providing His strength over our doubts, our fears, and our adversaries. When fear overwhelms you, remember that God is holding your right hand to help you through it all.
Heaven On Wheels Daily Prayer:
My Father in Heaven, I am thankful for Your daily blessings and know You are always with me. When I am fearful, I know You will be holding my hand and telling me gently not to let that fear take control of me. Continue to protect and comfort me as I go through my day, and encourage me as I provide encouragement to others. AMEN.
