I personally find the Old Testament Book of Isaiah to be one of my favorites. The prophet clearly foretold the Kingdom of Christ and provided wisdom that withstands the test of time.
In this second quote of the week from the Book of Isaiah, God sends His Word to the people of Judah:
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:2
Notice that God isn’t saying “IF you go through deep waters” or “rivers of difficulty”, nor is He telling the people of Judah that they MIGHT “walk through the fire of oppression”. God isn’t sugarcoating what His people are going to endure during the exile to Babylon.
Instead, He lets them know that He will be there WHEN they go through the deep waters, the rivers of difficulty, and walk through the fire of oppression.
Isaiah 43 begins with God reminding His people that He is their Creator, then follows with His assurance that He’ll be by their side regardless of how desperate things may be.
No matter how bad things may get, always remember that He will be there for us as well.
