I feel the same way that Spurgeon does. The confusing mixture of Christ's people and the world is sad and sickening. We cry out, 'How long Oh Lord'. I don't understand His decision to grow the wheat and the tares together. I don't like it and I don't understand it.
I think it is because He wants to wait until the last possible minute to hopefully harvest much more wheat than tares. I was a “tare” for quite a few years but returned to Him. His people are part of the solution to work with the tares so that the Holy Spirit can take over. Interestingly, I was thinking about this today - our return to faith had very little involvement of other Christians.
