Temptation is one of the hardest things for we mere mortals to overcome. Regardless of our social stature, belief, age, or a thousand other factors, we are constantly being tempted.
Advertising doesn’t help, nor does peer pressure. It’s almost as if we’re set up to fail and sin! It’s been that way since Eve succumbed to Satan’s whisperings in the Garden.
Not all temptations lead to sin. Although gluttony is considered one of the “seven deadly sins”, is having a single chocolate glazed donut for breakfast instead of something healthier going to lead to a life of eternal damnation? Probably not, but there are other temptations that do lead to Hell and most of us try to avoid them at all cost.
As Christians, we have a constant helper to keep us on the path of righteousness. All we need to do is ask for His help when those temptations - big and small - come our way:
“Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.”
Hebrews 2:18 NLT
What temptation can you call upon Jesus to help you with today?
