“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5
The title of today’s inspirational message is a rhetorical question. I don’t want to know if you’re growing apples, peaches, or grapes on a tree in your backyard, but if you are living a fruitful life as a Christian.
The Apostle John recorded these words of Jesus, which are included at the beginning of the same chapter where He first tells his closest followers of the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is telling all believers that when we live in Him (and He in us), we bear abundant fruit in the form of joy, love, peace, and all other good things. All fruit contains seeds to pass along life in the form of new plants. Are you living your life in such a way as to spread His Word and be fruitful? Do you live a joyful life and bring joy and love to others?
Without Jesus (the vine), we (the branches) cannot live life to the fullest and be fruitful.
