We all know those people who just can’t seem to control their anger. Every time you encounter them, they’re mad at someone or something, and they let you know about it. They’re uncomfortable to be around in person, and after a while you might even mute them on social media.
These “hot reactors” are mad at everything, and they just don’t understand how pointless it is for them to be carrying around all that anger. It’s eating them up, an obsession with how the world treats them. They don’t realize that others begin to see them as angry, obsessed fools who are not worth spending time on.
My favorite books of the Old Testament are Psalms and Proverbs, and today’s bit of Scripture is taken from the latter:
'People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. '
Proverbs 14:29 NLT
Once God gives you the understanding that all worldly things are temporary and you begin to put your heart into the heavenly, eternal life promised to us by faith in Jesus Christ, it’s much easier to control your anger. You realize that in God’s grand plan, even the things that enrage you now are temporary and fleeting. To have your anger consume you is just plain foolish!
