Over the past weekend, Barb and I spent three days in the mountains of Colorado, enjoying the fresh air, seeing some magnificent scenery and wildlife, and recharging our souls. As we return to our usual busy lives as retirees (sounds like an oxymoron, right?), I thought I’d rekindle our daily relationship in the Word with this greeting from Saint John to his friend Gaius, who was an early Christian who many believe had offered hospitality to John at one point.
It’s just one line, but it is filled with true love for his friend:
“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.”
3 John 1:2
Have you reached out to a friend or relative today? Hoping for that person that “all is well” and that they’re not having any physical difficulties is a kind and loving gesture that many of us tend to ignore. It’s almost tempting to put John’s greeting to Gaius at the top of every email or Facebook post!
